From 1995 to 2003, WG 10 of TC57 has - in cooperation with WG 11 and WG 12 - elaborated the international standard IEC 61850 - Communication networks and systems in substations. The major work on IEC 61850 beeing done, TC57 decided during the plenary meeting 2003, to merge the former three WGs 10, 11 and 12 into one new WG 10. The task of the WG 10 is:

WG 10 has established a cooperation with WG17 (Distributed Energy Resources) and WG18 (Hydro Power Plants) which are creating object models based on IEC 61850 for their domain specific applications.
